Ready for spring? We sure are!
As nice as the weather change can be, this is also a season when we tend to see the marks left behind by winter. The key is to know what to watch for, then catch problems early before they have a chance to grow.
An issue like wood rot, for example, doesn’t have to be a big deal when it’s a localized problem that’s quickly repaired. If you ignore it, however, that fungus keeps munching its way through your healthy wood fibers and can create a huge problem in a short amount of time.
Here’s a quick checklist of what to look for, no matter where you live here in the U.S. But if you’re fortunate enough to be a Nashville-area neighbor, just keep in mind that we can help you with inspections, repairs, painting, and more.
Exterior Springtime Checklist: What Should You Watch Out For?
Here’s the quick list, based on common weak points that we address for our clients all the time:
Brick molding (this refers to the trim around doors and windows, even if you don’t have a brick home)
Where garage door meets concrete
Bottom corners of your doors
Decks (more on this below!)
Not sure if your deck needs to be refinished? Soak it down, and see if the water puddles on the top or soaks into the wood. If it puddles, your stain/sealer is doing its job. If it soaks in, well, it’s time for a fresh coat of exterior protection.
