Or this!

There’s no doubt about it: cabinet painting in Nashville (and just about everywhere) is extremely popular! And, for good reason. If the existing layout and function of your kitchen meets your needs, painting your cabinets rather than gutting and remodeling is an attractive option.
With that said, there are a couple major concerns that we hear quite often from prospective clients. The two are closely linked, so let’s take a closer look at them and unpack the answer below.
Are Painted Kitchen Cabinets Durable? And, How Long Does the Finish Last?
The answer to both these questions is simple: it depends!
Simple, but not very helpful, right?
You really get out of your paint what you put into it, meaning that if you choose to tackle your cabinets as either a DIY project or hand it to a budget painter, you really can’t expect too much in return. There is little margin for error when it comes to both the quality and strength of the finish.
To guarantee the best results, these elements are necessary to the process:
Experience – This is not a project for someone who has never been trained, or isn’t sure of exactly what they’re doing. Cabinets, and paint in general, are NOT forgiving.
Tools – Different finish techniques and styles call for different tools, but most cabinets are sprayed for the fastest, smoothest, most professional transformation.
Preparation – This is the key to ANY successful house painting project. If the surface is not thoroughly prepared (repaired, sanded, filled, patched, cleaned, primed, etc.), the paint quality is compromised before it’s even applied.
Products – And, not just any products, but the BEST products. Premium paint is absolutely worth the investment, and will pay you back over time with superior style, color retention, and durability. Here at Nash Painting, we typically use Sherwin-Williams’ Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel, in a semi-gloss sheen for extra shine and finish strength.
Here’s a brief video that explains why we think this is the best product for our clients’ kitchen cabinets (and has proven itself over and over!).
How Long Do Painted Cabinets Last?
If you follow all the steps we’ve outlined above, the finish should perform as well as any factory finish. The only exceptions would be cabinets in environments that experience extreme use, exposure to harsh chemicals, abuse, etc.
Under normal conditions, we fully expect our painted cabinets to last anywhere from 8-15 years without needing a fresh coat of paint.
