Painting homes in Thompson's Station

Thompson's Station is mostly young houses going up fast on old farmland. Master-planned communities like Tollgate Village, Bridgemore Village, and Canterbury went up in painted brick, Hardie fiber-cement, and front-porch trim from the mid-2000s onward, and the earliest of those sections are now reaching their first real repaint. Around them sit 1990s brick subdivisions like Crowne Pointe and Arbor Lakes that are due for a second exterior cycle, plus large custom and equestrian estates on multi-acre lots out toward Bethesda Road. The common thread is builder-grade paint under full Williamson County sun: thin original coats on new construction that fade and chalk sooner than owners expect.

Inside

Inside, most of these homes are drywall with the open kitchens, two-story foyers, and painted trim that builders finished in one quick contractor-grade coat. In newer sections of Tollgate Village, Canterbury, and Bridgemore Village, the first repaint is usually about coverage and durability: a flat builder white that scuffs in the high-traffic rooms, and trim that needs a proper bonding coat to actually hold. Cabinet refinishing and trim work are the jobs that change how these floor plans feel without a remodel.

Outside

Outside, the work is painted brick, Hardie fiber-cement, and a lot of porch and gable trim, all baking under open Williamson County sun with little shade on the newer lots. Builder paint on fiber-cement chalks and fades on the south and west walls first, so we wash, spot-prime bare spots, and re-coat with a finish built for that exposure. Several communities here (Tollgate Village, Bridgemore Village, and Canterbury among them) run HOAs with color-approval rules, so check the rules before choosing a color.

Thompson's Station neighborhoods we know

Tollgate Village
A walkable master-planned community built on a Main Street layout, with homes in painted brick and Hardie board and deep front porches. The earliest sections are now hitting their first exterior repaint, and porch ceilings and trim are where the detail shows. The community runs an HOA, so exterior color goes through approval.
Bridgemore Village
Built largely between 2007 and 2023, so the range runs from homes ready for their first repaint to brand-new construction. Heavy on porch trim and painted finishes under open sun, with an active HOA that governs exterior color.
Canterbury
A 2012-and-later community of Old World-style homes with a lot of detailed trim and an HOA. The original builder-grade interiors and exteriors are reaching the age where a proper repaint, not another thin coat, makes the difference.
Crowne Pointe
One of the first subdivisions in Williamson County built all-brick, dating to 1996. These mature homes are well into their second exterior cycle, where aging trim, soffits, and fascia need carpentry and prep before paint.
Arbor Lakes
An established 1990s neighborhood (most homes built 1992–1997) with mature trees and no HOA, meaning owners choose their own colors and finishes. Long-shaded wood trim here tends to hold moisture and needs spot-priming before a repaint.
The Mill at Bond Springs
A newer luxury enclave of large custom homes on one-acre-plus lots, with multiple builders and finishes from modern farmhouse to Scandinavian. Custom exteriors and high interior trim detail call for color matching across mixed substrates rather than one builder spec.
